Printing Tips for PLA

PLA is the most forgiving filament in the range and prints well on any open-frame FDM machine. Start at 200 °C nozzle and 50 °C bed, then fine-tune in 5 °C steps if your hotend runs hot or cold. Run the part-cooling fan at full speed from the second layer for sharp overhangs and clean bridges, and leave the enclosure open — trapped heat softens the print and blunts detail.

  • 0.2 mm layer height gives the best balance of speed, detail and dimensional accuracy
  • A standard brass nozzle is all you need; PLA is non-abrasive
  • Slow the first layer to 20–25 mm/s for reliable adhesion on glass, PEI or textured plates

Storage and Batch Quality

PLA absorbs little moisture, but a spool stored in a damp workshop will still string and pop at the nozzle. Keep unopened spools sealed with the supplied desiccant, and dry an opened spool at 45–50 °C for 4–6 hours before a long print. Every batch is mechanically wound, tangle-checked, measured for diameter across the full spool and vacuum-sealed the day it is extruded — so the spool you open in month six prints like the sample you approved.

Applications

Decorative prints, cosplay props, display models, desk accessories and color-matched prototype parts.
