Description

Blue-green-gold silk PLA is the showpiece of the silk line. Three silky tones flow into one another as the print grows, producing an iridescent, peacock-like sheen that makes vases, awards, and display pieces look professionally finished straight off the printer. Prints as easily as standard PLA — for the best shine, print slightly slower than usual.

Why choose this filament

  • Shiny silk finish with an iridescent, luxurious sheen
  • Multi-tone gradient shifts naturally — no painting needed
  • Prints as easily as regular PLA
  • Batch-tested and vacuum-sealed with desiccant

Printing Tips for PLA Silk

Silk PLA shows its best surface quality at lower speeds — the pearly sheen comes from the way the polymer flows, and rushing the print dulls it. Run the nozzle at 210–220 °C and the bed at 55–60 °C, and hold speeds around 30–50 mm/s. Keep cooling moderate: too much airflow freezes the surface before the gradient has a chance to blend smoothly.

  • Slower prints shinier — 30–50 mm/s gives the deepest, most even luster
  • A slightly higher nozzle temperature (210–220 °C) smooths the surface finish
  • Avoid walls thinner than 0.8 mm; the dual-color effect needs material depth to show

Storage and Batch Quality

Silk PLA draws its shine from the base polymer, so moisture is the enemy of the finish — wet filament prints dull and bubbly. Keep spools sealed with desiccant and dry an opened spool at 45–50 °C for 4–6 hours before a display-grade print. Your spool arrives mechanically wound, tangle-checked, measured across the full length at ±0.02 mm and vacuum-sealed the day it is produced.

Applications: awards and trophies, vases, luxury home decor, cosplay pieces, display models.
